In March the children have been inspired by the natural environment and the changing seasons.
One of our art experiences involved creating leaf print art. We began by collecting leaves from our outdoor area and brought them to class. Some of the children used magnifying glasses to take a closer look at the finer details of the leaves.
I set up ink pads and paper at the atelier together with the leaves we had collected. The children selected leaves from the basket and carefully dipped them onto the ink pads. They then transferred the leaves to paper and pressed them down using a roller.
When we removed our leaves we discovered the most spectacular prints. Some of the children noticed fine veins and others commented on the different shapes of the leaves. It was great to see the children expressing their creativity using natural tools.
